you're fired

yesterday max was playing over at a friend's house. this friend is a couple of years older and there were a number of kids all playing together. it ended up, as things usually do when max is at this friend's house, that max came running home in tears explaining how the kids were hitting him and being mean. i'd have reason to question that claim if it was the first time. but, experience has taught me that max is usually telling the truth in this situation, unfortunately. we sat down to talk about it and max said, "E is fired." i agreed and said, ok. max went on to explain, "E is fired. we need to build a fire at our house and throw him in!"
i snickered at the innocence of max - fire and fired...easily confused. we tried to explain but it did no good. for now, max has fired E and for now that's ok with me.

and the winner is...

i decided to head over to kohl's to check our their on sale for 40% off assortment of shower curtains the other day. wouldn't you know it they didn't have anything cute...except this one! i snagged it for $16.99 and brought it home to see how it looked.

the picture doesn't even come close to showing how cute it really is. so now i've got to get new towels and paint the walls to match my new addition. all because i decided to paint my bathroom cabinet. wow. one thing really can lead to a zillion others.

luke's discovery

luke is a genius. and such a great problem solver. here's the latest: if you have too many toys in your hands, a binky in your mouth and need an extra place to hold that extra binky, you know, just in case you need a backup...well, under the chin works just great. i've caught him on more than one occasion using this new found pocket. what a smartie.

fishing at the gorge

max and mike decided to head up to flaming gorge yesterday for a couple of days. mike's mom has a little cabin up there - it's a fun getaway. when it's warm, at least! i opted to stay home with luke. fishing and cold and rain don't mix well with a one year old. they don't mix well with this mama either! so mike took max and they had a good day of fishing today. here's max with his catch of the day...

shower in style

i've been painting the past two days. i finally got sick of my bathroom cabinet being gross, not having a handle and not able to close. i took the door down, stripped all the paint off, patched the holes, sanded it, primed it and gave it 2 new coats of paint. it looks marvelous. unfortunately i now need to update the rest of the bathroom to give it all that wonderful new look. so, i'm turning to color. i need to paint the walls a color and in looking for inspiration i turned to shower curtains. here are a few options:



the first two are from anthropologie, of course and beautiful. i found the polka dot one here. while browsing anthropologie i came across this lovely as well...(it's a bathmat.)

i'm not really any closer to choosing a paint color. in fact, i'm probably more indecisive now that i've found so many options. input anyone? or if you have any suggestions on where to look...pass them along!

wasting time?

i've been slacking a bit on the blogging thing...it's time to get back in the swing of things. actually, a lot of things have gone by the way side these past 2 weeks. i have an excuse though. and it's a good one. all you book lovers out there will understand. i finally decided to read the twilight books by stephanie meyer. all three of them. in as little time as possible. wow. talk about sucking you in and causing you to ignore every screaming child, every toy on the floor. dishes piled up in the sink, laundry baskets kept filling up, the floor kept getting dirty. i broke away from edward long enough to clean on monday, so things weren't too terrible. i can say that i am exhausted from all the late nights. i mean, when was the last time i stayed up until 12:30 reading because i wanted to?! it was wonderful. and the books...the best. the anticipation will grow as i wait for #4 to be released in august. i guess i'll have time to catch up on all i missed these past 2 weeks while reading!

for the birds

i am beginning the process of redoing the decor in my blah kitchen. i am sick of the boring white and tan theme i have going on, with a splash of color on the floor from whatever food luke has decided he didn't want to eat. some days it's red. some it's orange. so, the goal of this makeover is to bring some real color into my world. i am working on repainting my cabinets. they'll stay white but will have darling colorful knobs. still looking for the perfect ones. but they'll be great. the little open wall space i have will be painted something colorful and i will need something great to hang there. these are a few options...or something of the like. not sure why i'm so drawn to birds lately. maybe it's because spring has finally decided to arrive.
